I woke up yesterday and decided I wanted a brown headband with bear ears on it. That's a normal thought to have first thing in the morning, right? Anyway, the ears are based on what I learned from making the ears for a Stuffed Pooh. So here's the pattern I came up with in case anyone else has a bear headband need.
Bear Headband
Supplies:
-Acrylic worsted weight yarn (I think I used some of that Caron Wintuk stuff)
-G hook
-yarn needle
-tape measure
-stitch markers
Instructions:
Note: The ears are worked in spirals, that is you will be working in the round without joing rows.
Ears (make 2)
-ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook.
-2 sc in each sc.
-(inc. in next sc, sc in next sc) repeat for round.
-(inc. in next sc, sc in next 8sc) X 2
-work even for 2 rounds
-slip stich in next 3 stitches, sc in next 14 stitches, slip stitch in next 3 stitches.
-repeat last round
-Slip stitch in next 3 slip stiches, sc decrease, sc in next 10 stitches, slip stitch in the next 3 slip stitches, finish off.
Band
-Ch 12 (or you could chain more or less for a thicker or thinner band)
-Work double crochet rows until piece is long enough to fit around your head comfortably. Seam ends together.
-Sew ears to band and you're done!

I Love it :)
i'm in a band called the furious bears and we've been lusting after some ears for a while.
thanks, they look great!
Adorable! Can't wait to make one. Thanks for sharing the pattern.

I made one! You rule! :D Thank you so much.
The bear ears keep coming out looking like baskets, curled in very far on the open side. I'm using the right needle & yarn... How do you sew these onto a band so they look like ears instead of baskets?
Hmmm, you must crochet a lot tighter than I do, maybe try making the ears with a larger hook? I didn't have any problems with them being too basket-like so that's all I can think of, hope that helps!
Haha..I love it and they look so cute on you! Can't wait to make some. thanks
