Eden Pizza in Saint Paul

I just posted this on the food blog I have with Shane but I thought I'd share it here too!

Today for lunch Shane and I decided to try someplace new, well new to us anyway, we went to Eden Pizza in the Midway area of Saint Paul. Since I found out that they had a pizza called “Vegan” I had to go and see if it was any good. Since we weren’t crazy hungry, we split a Vegan personal pizza which comes with a thin crust brushed with garlic infused olive oil, red and yellow peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, and green olives. The crust was quite crunchy which isn’t my favorite thing in the world but overall the pizza was pretty good. Next time I think we’ll get something with more of a sauce though, if you ask, they have a marinara that’s vegan (their standard pizza sauce has cheese in it). The also have a Thai pizza that sounds really good, the Thai Mock Duck that’s topped with Thai sauce (we asked and they said this was vegan), mock duck, onion, broccoli, swiss (we’d leave that off of course), cilantro, and crushed peanuts. It’s a tiny place and the service isn’t exactly stellar – no waiter while we were there, just the pizza chef – but I think we’ll be back or at least have a pizza delivered.

Knitscape

I'm such a podcast junkie! Mostly knitting podcasts, although I do listen to Last Bite which is a Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood podcast. I listen mostly when I'm crafting or cleaning with my iPod hooked up to the sound system in the living room and it's a lot more fun than tv usually. Anyway, there's a new one I found recently on iTunes called Knitscape (just search for "knitscape" on itunes) and it's awesome! It follows my favorite format which is two podcasters, lots of banter, and not a terrible amount of structure. Plus they're based in the Twin Cities! As with most podcasts, the sound quality on the first episode isn't stellar but don't let that keep you away, you might even want to skip right to the second episode, that one sounds great.

FO: Leo the Brave Lion

Look I finished something! I feel like I haven't had an FO in ages, but this cute little guy came together in no time. The pattern is from the Lion Brand booklet Vanna's Choice Easy Crochet Critters and I actually used the yarn called for - shocking! It's a really great little booklet, I got it at Michaels for $4.99 and it has a ton of cute and easy patterns. I used safety eyes for this little guy, I recently bought a ton of eyes from this awesome seller on Etsy, 6060, I totally recommend them if you're in the market for some eyes (yeah, that doesn't sound weird at all...)

And since Lion Brand is sweet enough to let you sell anything you make from any Lion Brand pattern (see), this little guy is available in my Etsy shop!

Sanrio and Karen O

With the car all fixed and happy (well, as happy as that car gets) Shane and I headed off to the Mall of America yesterday for a bit of shopping. I know most locals avoid the big mall at all costs but it does have a lot of clothing stores I like and now it has the awesomeness of a Sanrio store! And it's even a good one! I mean, it could never measure up to the one in San Francisco that I used to haunt but it's pretty darn good. It was really hard choosing what to get but I settled on an initial necklace and iron on patch (I love things with my K on them!):

I love the necklace but I had to do a little surgery, the el cheapo clasp broke right away so I took the whole thing apart, put the charms on new jump rings, and put them on a necklace that I got at the Bead Monkey a while back. I think it looks even nicer than it did on the cheap chain. Yay for craftiness!

I'm also excited about the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album I got, It's Blitz!

I've hated pretty much everything they've done after their first album, but Zero is such a perfect and infectious song that I thought I'd give Karen and the boys another chance. I really do love Karen O and totally need to see her live! The video for Zero is really excellent, check it out if you get a chance.

The yarn crafting front hasn't been very active lately, I just haven't had the time to do much. Today's looking pretty good though, I might get some work done on my shawl and I have an amigurumi lion in the works.

May is made of suck

No, seriously, this month is just suck-tastic. First I had the killer death flu for a week, then my allergies did a super attack on me, and today my car crapped out. Woe is me, I'm such a whiner! The car died while we were in Roseville stopped at a light, luckily we were able to get it started and going long enough to stop in the Har Mar parking lot. I'm so glad we have AAA! They came really quick and the tow guy was even nice, shocking! He was just guessing, but he's thinking it could be a fuel pump or filter problem. Since it's Sunday we couldn't do much today so we just had it dropped at the shop and we'll deal with it tomorrow. Sigh, I'm so done with this car, it's crapped out soooo many times! I just need to find someone who wants to trade one of my project bags for a Prius, that's a fair trade, right :)

Craftstravaganza!

So the day before I got sick, Shane and I went to the Craftstravaganza show at the fairgrounds in Saint Paul. I went by myself last year but this time Shane was on vacation (there was only one day on his whole vacation where one of of wasn't sick) so he came with me. It was pretty good but I have to say that I was less impressed than last year. I did get this awesome necklace though:

It's another beauty from Pam Loudy, I love her stuff! I have two other necklaces by her and always check out her booth at local craft shows.

On the same day at the fairgrounds, there was the Living Green Expo which was okay but not as fun as last year and waaaaay too crowded. But there was vegan pizza at the Galactic Pizza booth so it was all good :) I snapped a quick pic of some people trying out Segways:

Thanks for all the feel better comments, you guys are great! I'm feeling pretty good today, I think I might even leave the house in the next couple of days without feeling like I'm going to die!

almost human

Hey everyone! Long time no blog, I've had the death flu since Sunday, no fun! I've been so sick that I haven't even felt like knitting, I think I've done one row on a ribbed scarf in all the days I've been ill. I'll be back soon, when I feel a little more peppy!
