I blush
Hey, I got new glasses:

It took me forever to decide but I decided on these nerdy delights from Ray-Ban. I also got some prescription black Wayfarers but I don't have a pic to share. Glasses are just about my least favorite thing to shop for, but I was overdue for an eye exam and my old frames have been crooked for quite a while (my husband sat on them!).
The husband and I went out and saw The Time Traveler's Wife last night at Rosedale, it was actually a lot better than I thought it would be. I still like the book better, but I almost always do. And Eric Bana is still scary.
I haven't had much time to knit lately which is a bummer, it's been a busy few days with visiting in-laws and dealing with the brain-dead jerks that do the maintenance for the building. But we did pick up our State Fair tickets at Cub yesterday, yay, I love the fair!
And finally, here's my Couch to 5K update: Last night we ran Day 1 of Week 4 and it was mighty challenging!

Yarntasting
Have you ever been to a yarntasting? Ever heard of one? Well, I went to one last night! A couple of ladies from my knitting group organized a sampling of yarn from Artfibers - basically you sign up, find a bunch of people to come, and they send you a ton of samples for swatching and fondling. Fun! And yes, there was a nice selection of vegan yarn, yay! There was also a shocking amount of vegan food including an awesome peanut butter pie and a yummy couscous dish. My favorite yarn that I played around with was Zoe, a shiny and pretty yarn that comes in some gorgeous colors, I might just have to order some of that...
Here's a pic of me knitting that one of the organizers posted:
I don't know if you can tell from how I'm holding the yarn in this picture, but apparently I knit very differently from most people, a couple of people say that they can really tell that I crocheted before I knit from the way I hold the needles. Anyway, more pics:

Chocolate Zucchini Bread of Awesomeness and Joy

Yes, it's a long post title but this bread is worth it! Last Tuesday at knit night, one of the lovely ladies brought a loaf of chocolate zucchini bread that smelled and looked crazy good. It wasn't vegan but she pointed me toward the recipe (thanks Kelaine!) so I was able to make some for myself. The awesome recipe is from Pioneer Woman's Tasty Kitchen site and it was super easy to veganize, all I had to do was use some Ener-G instead of the eggs. And holy crap, this bread is sooo good, you all have to make some! It's also a great way to use up zucchini for those who garden or have friends who like to share their bounty. And for those who have never had zucchini bread, no it doesn't taste like zucchini :)

Finishing, progress, and time travel

I don't even know when I started this, I've been working on it mostly at knit nights since it's such a mindless pattern (just a 2X2 ribbed scarf). But it's done so I officially have one Christmas project done, hee hee! The yarn is one skein of Marble for half the scarf and one skein of Collage for the other half. I ran out of Marble and couldn't find the color anywhere so I found Collage and it's almost exactly the same yarn, yay!
I have some socks in progress:

Just some plain vanilla socks in some Panda Soy in the stained glass colorway. I've also been working on my Heathered Hoodie, I'm just past the ribbing and have started a few rows of the cables. After messing up quite a few times and wanting to set the thing on fire, I decided to write out the cable chart, I'm just no good with charts (maybe that's because they're pure evil).
And now to time travel. Has anyone seen The Time Traveler's Wife? It's not really the kind of movie I would normally want to see but I read and liked the book so I'm interested (even though it has Eric Bana in it).

Twitter?
C25K update: I finished off week 2 today and I'll super happy with how I'm progressing. I'm scared of next week though, there's a bit where you run for 3 minutes! I know the experienced runners out there are probably laughing, but that's a lot of running for me :)

Cherry Girl
Because I love cherries (maybe not as much as sooome people, tee hee) I made this cute little pouch/clutch for my etsy shop:
C25K update: Shane and I completed Day 2 of Week 2 yesterday at the gym. So now I've ran outside, inside on a treadmill, and inside around a track. I think my favorite is outside if it's not too hot or humid, then inside around the track, and treadmill comes last. How about you guys, where to do like to walk/run/exercise?

FO: His and Hers Hedgehogs!

Yay, I finally get to share my little knitted hedgehogs! I made these for a certain lady's wedding present because she's a hedgehog mamma so of course she needs some knit ones (someone else made some super cute crocheted ones for her as well).

The pattern is from Little Cotton Rabbits (here's the Rav link) and it's great, very clever and easy to knit using small amounts of yarn. They were fun to make too, not too many little fiddly bits that you can sometimes have with knit toys. Plus, a portion of the money from the patten sales go to the British Hedgehog Preseravation Society, gotta love that! For the dark part of the body, I used some Tatamy Tweed Worsted and for the face I used Dreambaby DK and a small bit of Panda Cotton for the nose. And of course the lady hedgie had to have a little button sewn on the side :)

C25K update: Shane and I did the first day of week 2 today and my legs and hips are soooore!

Is it a hoodie yet?
I bought yarn!
When I found out that 3 Kittens was having a big sale on everything (25% off every single thing in the store, and a lot of stuff was 50% off) I decided to get the yarn for the Heather Hoodie from the new issue of Knitscene:
For my size, I needed 6 balls of Berroco Comfort Chunky and I ended up saving about $10 with the sale, whee, this is going to be one cheap sweater! I chose the Dusk colorway, I nice heathery gray color that will be awesome for fall. Oh, but you know how I wanted to wear it to school? Not going to happen, there's a dress code for my program, noooooo! Dress codes are my enemy and make me sad, but it's only for a year so I can deal with it. You can only wear all white (ew) or all black with white no-scuff shoes and a white lab coat every day to class. I think it's kind of funny that I'll be wearing a lab coat though :) And by the way, does anyone have any good local recommendations for where to buy one, I can't say I've cruised around any uniform stores lately :) It's a good thing that I hadn't bought much for school clothes yet, just one pair of pants that I was able to return. It really would have been nice to know about a dress code sooner though. And of course I don't have any clothes like that, I really don't wear black pants and don't have any plain black tops either, so I'll be off to Target and probably the mall very soon. I have to buy shoes too, how annoying! Ok, I'm done whining now!
P.S. I finished C25K for this week, I did my third run yesterday at the park with Shane.

Best Fabric Ever

And this one is for me, yay! The only time I usually keep the bags I sew is if I make some sort of mistake or if it's a test for sizing, but this came out so cute I just have to keep it for myself. The fabric is so gorgeous, I got it from Crafty Planet a couple of days ago (love their fabric selection and loyalty program!) and I'll be back for more soon.
Ew, I have to go in for an eye exam today, I am sooo not looking forward to that! But I'm very much overdue and my prescription could use a tune up. I think I found some cute sunglasses yesterday at Lenscrafters but no look yet with regular glasses, hopefully today :) Glasses are the hardest thing to shop for because they're always there on your face so you really have to like them, plus they're so dang expensive! At least I have a couple of $100 off coupons :)
