Owl Bag Giveaway - closed!
It's Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day! Welcome to any and all new readers who found my blog on the Sew Mama Sew site (or anywhere else for that matter). This is my first year participating in Giveaway Day and I'm super excited! The prize for this giveaway is this cute zippered pouch, made by me:
The Colorful Owl Pouch is one of the most popular items in my Etsy shop - Vegancraftastic - so I'm very happy to give one away to one of you guys!
To enter, simply leave a comment here on this post telling me your favorite treat to eat around the Holidays. Giveaway is open worldwide and ends on December 17th when a winner is chosen by random number generator. One entry per person please and make sure I have a way of contacting you if you win!

My favourite holiday treat are these silly, small, simple cookies my mother always uses to decorate the tree with. You can buy these literally throughout the year, but somehow, around Christmas, they're all I want to eat. Maybe has something to do with having to sneakily pluck them off the branches when my mother wasn't looking..

I love peanut butter and chocolate!!! There are these cookies you can make that are super simple. Two Ritz crackers, peanut butter between them, and dip in melted chocolate, decorate to your liking.... they can even be vegan so you should try them out! (hint, hint... you can bring them in Jan.!!!!)

A couple of years ago I bought some fresh pecans when I was in Tennessee in December. I wasn't sure what to do with them, and found a pralines recipe so gave it a try. Now I make them every year. This year I made a double batch because I swear they are half gone by the time I put them away in my tin!

Hmmmmm, so many choices. I really love baking around the holidays, so I think my favorite cookie that we make are Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies... Its a peanut butter dough, rolled in granulated sugar with a Hershey's Kiss on top. Mmmmmm, yum!

We have a family tradition of cheese fondue on Christmas Eve. I've been a vegetarian for 10 years, and I just can't give up cheese.
I don't generally discriminate against any treats on Christmas . . . though I probably should based on that sentence alone. :P Just finished making the most delish peppermint chocolate cream cookies . . . I think I should post about them on the blog they are SO good.

This may be an odd one, but I'm kind of odd so I guess it's fitting. I don't like most things that are sweet. So when I think about my favorite thing to eat on Christmas, I think of breakfast. In my family, we've always done a traditional Irish breakfast for Christmas morning. So, come Christmas, I get ready for the smell of Black and White puddings, Irish Breakfast sausages, eggs, rashers, and some delicious bread from the bakery. Happy Christmas!!

Love it! So cute. My fave Christmas treat is something called puppy chow (gross I know) but is really chex cereal covered in chocolate and maybe peanut butter and then coated in powdered sugar. How can you go wrong with 6lbs of sugar? :D I also love Christmas morning Pilsbury cinnamon and orange rolls. Oh and orange juice. We could NEVER afford them any other time of the year, but Mama always made sure I had them at Christmas. :D

Christmas cookies are my favorite. My mom made the best and my sister and I would have the job if decorating these gems then, my mom would "hide" them until Christmas eve. Luckily, she passed down the recipe before passing and now I can enjoy these with fond memories.

I just tried these really good Danish potatoes and I think they will be a new holiday favorite for sure :)
My favorite christmas treat are the little log type treats. They have rice krispies, peanut butter, butter and powdered sugar. Rolled into a log, then dipped into icing (powdered sugar, vanilla and milk), then rolled in coconut. Delicious.

The one thing that I feel reminds and comforts everyone that I know of the Winter holiday is a good batch of Peppermint Bark. For me especially, because my nana used to make it for our family every year, and when she passed I took over the recipe and duties to promise to make it every year. She always made hers vegan on purpose because she said she wanted only the healthiest ingredients (even as sweets) being put into the bodies she loved most. haha. Her recipe was white chocolate & crushed candy cane layer on top and another layer of milk chocolate on the bottom. She would even crumble it up and put it on top of vegan mint chocolate brownies/cakes/cookies too. Perfect with some almond milk! mmm. And if only she could see me now, years later, I'm a vegan :)
It's one of those recipes that work just like a hug. Showing love through baking.

Without a doubt, it's cookies! You can't have winter holidays without lots of cookie baking. But, in a pinch, I'll take some pie.
