Baby Rings

Of course, the babies don't wear them all the time, just for a bit and then they're tucked away as keepsakes. I have mine in a special place and if Shane and I decide to have a baby, he or she will get to wear them too! Yeah, for like five seconds, and then they'll be put away for safe keeping ;)

New Knitty!
Have you all seen the new issue of Knitty? This issue is extra special and awesome because a friend of mine who used to be a knit night regular before she moved is a model for the Summit Pattern:
Gorgeous, right? The shawl and the redhead ;)
I also love Inamorata, super cute! I like tops with this shape, they seem to look good on the less than busty ladies and I'm certainly in that group.
I don't know if I'd actually knit Petrie, but I love the clean look of it:
So what do you like from the new issue?

Vegancraftastic on Ravelry!

I'm trying not to feel too dorky about it, but I've started a Ravelry group for my Etsy shop and patterns, all that is Vegancraftastic! I'm hoping it will be fun place where I can share new stuff, updates, secret sales and discounts, and hear what you guys want to see more of in the shop :) So go ahead, join and introduce yourself - wouldn't it be embarrassing if I was the only member of the group? No, don't let that happen! ;)

Interweave Crochet Spring 2010
It's been a while since I've bought an issue of Interweave Crochet, the Spring and Summer issues tend to interest me a bit more I think. Maybe I just can't imagine a big winter sweater in crochet? Anyway, the preview for the Spring issue is up and there are a couple of projects I really like and think I'd actually make!:
The Clarity Cardigan by Doris Chan. This is a super cute little cardigan (I would do the shorter version that I can see being work over a tank top or cami) Also, it uses Spa which is a yarn I've been wanting to try out. :
The Flame Scallop Cardi by Kristen TenDyke. This is really cute and it's even available as a free download so you don't even have to buy the issue of crochet it!
So is anything tempting you from the new issue?

Spring!

Spring is just about here, most of the icky snow has melted and my allergies have even started up a bit! No, I'm not excited about allergies but I'd take sneezing over snow any day :) But I do have some favorite things about Spring and Summer:
1. Flip flops! I hate wearing shoes but flip flops are awesome!
2. Dresses and skirts. I'm not terribly girlie but I loves me a good skirt.
3. Spring yarn lines = lots of vegan goodness.
4. Farmers markets. Nothing is better than fresh veggies straight from the farm!
5. Ecopolitan. Delicious raw food is sooo refreshing on a hot and sunny day.
6. No more furnace! The way our apartment building is set up, the heat in every unit is on 24/7 all winter long at full blast so it's such a relief to have the heat off finally.
7. Ice cream! Not that I don't eat vegan (duh) ice cream all year long, but it's so much for fun when it's hot out :)
So what are your favorite things about the warmer weather months?

28
Note: my skin isn't quite that yellow, the lighting in my apartment when it's gray out is really bad! Anyway, March 11 was my 28th birthday! Ooooh, that means only one more birthday in my 20s, how crazy! It was a fun day, I got a really delicious dinner at Everest on Grand (Nepali, Tibetan, and Indian food) and Shane made me a strawberry cheesecake that was super yummy. Here are some pics from the restaurant:
I really was happy to be there, Shane is just really good at taking pictures of me with weird looks on my face :)
We shared an order of momos (delicious dumplings):
I had the chickpea curry:
and Shane had the jackfruit curry:
In another post, I'll share the crafty gifts I got :)

New yarn you say?
Berroco Weekend:

Weekend is an acrylic cotton blend that come in some really vibrant colors, I can see a nice Spring cardigan out of this stuff.
Speaking of Berroco, one of my all time favorite yarns, Comfort is out in 12 new heathered shades! Heathered yarns can be rare in the vegan world, so these are very very welcome (and gorgeous!)
In the realm of big box craft stores, there's a new player in the world of vegan sock yarn, Serenity Garden from Premier yarns. And this one has Debra Norville on the label which makes it hilarious :) As an early birthday prezzie for myself, I picked up 2 skeins each of the Roses and Hibiscus colorways. Oh, and this is a totally synthetic sock yarn and is priced comparably to Berroco Comfort Sock.

So what new yarns are you guys excited about trying?

Wow!
Things are pretty busy here at casa de vegancraftastic, although not with terribly exciting things. The best thing is that my husband and I have started running again! We took a long winter hiatus because it's been really icy and snowy out (it is Minnesota after all) and we both hate running at the gym. But since it's starting to thaw we've been able to get out a few times. If you're new to the blog, my husband and I did the Couch to 5K program last summer and ran our first 5K on Halloween. Other than that, it's mostly been sewing, sewing, and more sewing, with shop stuff and some custom orders. I also picked up some uber cheap sock yarn at Joann that I have to talk about soon, I want to at least swatch with it before I say anything :)

Contest Time Again!
The sub-title of this post is "Another Contest that Jen Won't Win" :)
Anyway, do you guys remember way back when I mentioned I had a few sock patterns that were going to be released in a book on cd? The socks were Molten:

And Muir Woods:

Both patterns, and more than 50 more can be found on the pattern cd 50 Socks 50 States. Since designers got two free copies, I figured it might be fun to give one away on my blog, giveaways are always fun, right? Winner will recieve one PC version of 50 Socks 50 States.
To enter:
Visit my Etsy shop, Vegancraftastic and leave a comment here on this post telling me your favorite item. Make sure you leave a way for me to contact you in your comment either by posting your Ravelry name or your e-mail written as youATwhereverDOTcom. Having to track down a winner who hasn't left any contact info is no fun, so I will have to delete your comment if you enter anonymously :) Deadline is my birthday, March 11! For extra entries, post about this contest on your blog, twitter, facebook or anyplace else and leave a separate comment letting me know. Good luck!

Pink Lemonade Pie

I made this little beauty a couple of days ago, it's the lemon icebox pie from 500 Vegan Recipes except I used pink lemonade concentrate instead of regular. I'm all about easy to make desserts and this was definitely easy, even the part where you made sweetened condensed soymilk was easy peasy. I can't wait to make this again in the summer, it's so cool and refreshing!
