At least there were pancakes

Oy, yesterday was quite the day!  It actually started out great, the husband had the day off so we spent it together and had a lovely dinner at Everest on Grand.  And then the wheel on our car fell off.  Yup.  Technically, something that keeps the wheel attached to the car snapped, and let me tell you - that is one horrible sound to hear!  The lucky bit was that we were in a parking lot backing out of a space and not on a freeway or anything.  Anyway, after a night of drama, waiting around for a tow truck, and being stranded at a closed service station, we were saved by my good friend Kathy :)

Today however, is much better because it started out with pancakes (I used this recipe from Bittersweet):

We were out of cereal, english muffins, and bagels, but instead of throwing myself on the ground and having a hissy fit, I decided to put on an apron and make pancakes.  And I'm so glad that I did, you can't really be upset about silly stuff like cars when you're enjoying a nice breakfast with your sweetie :)

those look so delicious..we ran out of stuff and made pancakes this weekend too!

so glad you were only backing out of a parking lot when it happened and were safe. i had a tire pop when i was on the freeway once and it is definitely not a performance i ever want to repeat!

So sorry about the car - what a nightmare. So you glad you were somewhere relatively save when it happened.

I see you're following my blog inspiration! Don't let little things like wheels falling off get you down, instead make pancakes and make-out with your hubby! Nice work!
(p.s. sorry about your wheel.)

I hope the car problem is sorted out quickly and without too much stress.

Those pancakes look wonderful! They're one of my favourite things to eat, and not only for breakfast. :) Sometimes my partner and I have them for tea, hey, why not?

oh my! Glad you're okay - our old car had a problem with the wheel thingy too... I don't remember what it was but the mechanic said the wheel could fall off and that it could be quite dire if, as you said, we were on the freeway.

Those pancakes look lovely! I'd forgotten how much I like them... might have to give that a try this weekend. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your car. That's a crummy thing to have happen, but I can see that you are grateful it happened in the safest situation possible!

Pancakes are always a good way to cheer yourself :-) I love pancakes! (and I've gotten good at making them, too)

Hope the car is back on the road soon with minimal cash required...and I'm glad the pancakes were there to comfort you in your time of crisis!

Oy! I've gone through similar freakish car malfunctions, and know that they are very scary. A tire falling off?? What! Hooray that you're okay. Hooray for a wonderful beginning to a brighter day today!

Ack, how scary to have your wheel fall off! Glad it didn't happen when you were driving and cause you to crash.

And yum, those pancakes look delicious. *drool*

I'm sorry to hear about the scary tire coming off your car. I'm glad to hear you are unhurt.

Your pancakes look good. I have a question do they taste like regular old pancakes? I'm wondering since my mom as a milk allergy that they might be something to try for her to have for breakfast.

Melissa - they taste just like any other pancakes, super yummy :)

SO scary! I'm very glad you weren't speeding along the road when it happened! :o(

Those pancakes look mouthwatering. I think I may have to treat the family to a pancake breakfast tomorrow. It's their favourite and I'm the only one who makes them... I know they'll be sending their thanks to you! Expect a warm glow tomorrow morning, Scotland-time! (Oh... You'll still be asleep... :o) Maybe it'll bring you happy dreams! :o) )
