A Trip to the Library

One of the many things I love about our new apartment is that it's closer to a larger and more awesome library than the branch we were closer to before.  My love of the library goes waaaay back, when I was a wee girl I would spend hours in the gorgeous Pasadena Public Library and always checked out the maximum number of books.  You have no idea how excited I was when I was old enough to have an adult library card and could check out even more books!  Here's the stack I checked out today from my local branch of the Saint Paul library:

I got quite the stack today:  Modern Top Down Knitting, My Sweet MexicoFresh and Fast Vegan, The St. Paul Farmers Market Produce Cookbook , Cake Keeper Cakes, and Subversive Cross Stitch.  I can't wait to dive into my stack of books, but I think I should do a bit of sewing first - work before play!

What have you guys picked up at the library lately?

I'm a librarian working in a public library so I bring home to way to many books ;). Great to have a chance to discover new knitting books before others do.

Lovely photo and collection! I've recently started going to our college library every week and am shocked at how great their selection is! I tried the city library a few times and was disappointed ... so for those with a college one, check it out! Ours allows local residents to use it :)

Nice vase... I didn't know you had a Jennie the Potter! Impressive!!!
I'm terrible when it comes to borrowing books- as you know first hand- so I tend not to go too near libraries for fear of being shunned....

Just yesterday, I picked up the One Skein Wonders Sock Yarn book from the library! I also put in an order for the Sew Serendipity book, too :-)

As a former library employee I can relate to Lise H's comment: it was always nice to be the first to check out a new book. Just last week I checked out Lisa Gansky's "The Mesh" (book on CD) and listened to it on the drive to see my son. He's a theatre major at FSU and was performing in a play. Lucky for me I did not have to drive so not only did I listen to the book, I also got to do some knitting!

My library makes me so happy too! I'm there almost once a week picking up new treasures.

I love the library too! Currently I have two knitting books, three gardening books, and 3 DVDS. The DVDS are The Legend of Boggy Creek (old movie about Sasquatch in Arkansas), Pride and Predjudice (the PBS version with Colin Firth) and a four DVD edition of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 which includes the Giant Spider Invasion episode, my all-time favorite. I just returned Elmo's Potty Time DVD and a novel, The Wild Irish and have several more items on request. They also have awesome story times for little ones and crafts. The library is at least a weekly event for us, I don't know what we would do without it!

Lucky! I used to absolutely love my library and it was pretty much my second home. Now I've moved to Switzerland and the closest library is not too close and doesn't have a very big English selection. It looks as though you've picked quite a few good ones, I hope you fill us in!

I found your blog through The Style MD.. so glad to find other vegan bloggers! : )
